- Header file causing the error because neither <iostream> or <iostream.h> are standard header files of C. In simple words header file <iostream> is not meant to be for C programming it is defined for the programming language C++, therefore when we are trying to add the header file in the program, the compiler cannot find the file because it is not there.
- Move the file into your home directory. Provided that the file is located in the ~/Desktop directory, you may. mv ~/Desktop/myfile.py ~/ which will move the file. You may then proceed with the python3 command as above. The myfile.html will be created in the home directory. Run the Python script with an complete path from the home directory:

- Nov 12, 2012 · The 1st command line argument passed is treated as input file. e.g. : awk 'code' file arg1 arg2 arg3 only file is treated as input file 2. If the input file is piped, it doesn't see any of the arguments as input files. e.g. : cat file | awk 'code' arg1 arg2 arg3 arg1 is NOT treated as input file. Am I right? Can you please help me?

- iostream.h and iostream are different files with different names, and they have different internals (the most obvious of which is namespaces). Modern compilers don't come with iostream.h If your compiler cannot find iostream, then it's broken in some way. Maybe installed incorrectly, maybe it does not have the include paths set up.

- The general case is the current directory not existing. Apart from its having been deleted as in maxschlepzig's example, this can only happen in weird circumstances like a misbehaving filesystem (your case), or perhaps a security mechanism like SELinux having made the directory invisible (I don't know if SELinux can actually produce this effect).
